Union der Opferverbände Kommunistischer Gewaltherrschaft e.V.

Union der Opferverbände Kommunistischer Gewaltherrschaft e.V. (UOKG) was founded in 1991 and serves as the umbrella organisation for nearly forty associations and initiatives supporting victims of communism in Germany. It represents the interests of the victims and their associations vis-à-vis political decision-makers, offers free advice to victims on how to assert their claims and works to keep the public actively aware of the suffering experienced under the Soviet occupation zone and SED dictatorships.

The UOKG offers social and legal counselling to people who experienced SED injustice. It focusses in particular on rehabilitation and pension claims. The staff advises people affected by forced adoptions, too. The association also helps people find suitable discussion partners in Germany regarding other issues.
