The offices of Erich Mielke, Minister for State Security, were situated in the central building on the grounds of the State Security in Berlin-Lichtenberg. The ASTAK Association opened the Stasi Museum in House 1 in November 1990. In addition to other initiatives dealing with the history of the SED dictatorship, the umbrella organization for victims' associations (UOKG e.V.) also works in this landmarked building.
